*/u/kwn by Lu/cija Kapetanić, is typeface looks at unpredictability and duality by showing the hidden parts of identity that people often mask, not because of anything bad, but as a way to protect themselves. It shows how expectations, social norms, and trauma can shape the way people hide their emotions and deal with things alone, without letting others see it. The letterforms were made to show these hidden parts, giving a visible shape to feelings that are usually kept private, so they can finally be recognised, accepted, and given a little more space.
Lu/cija Kapetanić is a type and graphic designer from Zagreb (Croatia) where she completed a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Communication at the School of Design, followed by a Master’s in Type and Media. Her practice is driven by precise conceptual thinking and a refusal to separate form from meaning. Her work is drawn to psychological complexity and the spaces where these interests find their typographic form, in both letterforms and systems.
